While We Barely Recovered From Stan Lee’s Death, His Last Words Have Wrecked Us All Over Again
Stan Lee’s death is something that was huge, unmeasurable loss for almost every single person. He has affected so many lives and is responsible for making all of our lives a little better. The world is still mourning the loss of this ”marvellous’ legend and I don’t think anyone is getting over it anytime soon.
We already have a lot of things to remember him by and now, we also know what his last known words were and it’s just bringing back all the feels. TMZ got hold of the last picture of Stan Lee which was clicked on Saturday, November 10th, along with the last words he said then.
The picture shows him smiling and looking cheerful during what would be his final sit-down with the man he trusted to run Marvel Comics, Roy Thomas.

Stan’s last words to Roy before he left were, “God bless. Take care of my boy, Roy.”
Who is the son Stan Lee was talking about? Fans are speculating it to be none other than Spider-Man. Stan was very protective of that character and fought with Marvel’s publisher at the time, who basically questioned the idea of a teenager as a superhero. The character was originally conceived with this idea in mind and as a rejection of the stereotype that teens were always sidekicks.
Well, Stan Lee was obviously right, as we all know, as Spider-Man is one of the most successful Marvel characters and it seems like Stan just wanted to protect the legacy of the character he thought of as his son.
Roy also released a statement on the last meeting, saying Stan seemed to have “lacked much of the old Stan Lee energy” most people had come to know him by. Roy also added that he seemed enthusiastic about future Marvel movie cameos if he could do them without being too much of a burden. Roy called Stan “one of the most important mythmakers of the 20th century.”

Excelsior!: Stan Lee’s philosophy for Liberty and Justice for All
Abstract
Excelsior was Stan Lee’s famous catchphrase which is a Latin word meaning “ever upward.” What began as a clever sign off for Lee’s comics became his life motto. Stan Lee has always been working hard in his life to create equality for all, oftentimes through his comics. This is the reason for the title Excelsior to commemorate Stan Lee for making the world a little more super.
This essay will examine the evolution of Stan Lee’s valuable contribution to the American values of equality, patriotism, and fairness through an analysis of several of his comic book superheroes, from The Fantastic Four up to the modern day Marvel Cinematic Universe. First, the focus is to analyze black and patriotic superheroes to see how they have changed over time and discover what their purpose was for society. Major ideas will be how each of these groups have been strategically used during different times in history. I will dive deeper by analyzing characters such as Black Panther, BlackWidow, Captain America, Iron Man, The X-Men and several more who have all had a deeper meaning since their creation.
First the essay traces Stan Lee’s emergence to Timely Comics which began in 1939 and later became Marvel Comics. Stan Lee was hired as an office assistant when the company opened and went on to become one of the most important figures in the comic book world. The year 1961 marked the transition from Timely to Marvel and the first comic written by Stan Lee ushering in a new style of superhero comics.
Lessons from Stan Lee’s Estate
In November of 2018, the Marvel universe lost its former publisher and chairman Stan Lee. Lee, the co-creator of legendary comic book superheroes such as Spider-Man, the Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, and Black Panther, passed away at 95 after battling a year-long illness. He was survived by his only daughter J.C. Throughout his life, Lee’s creations thrilled generations of fans. After his death, however, his multi-million-dollar estate and comic empire were steeped in controversy. Here are some lessons from Stan Lee’s estate:
Where was the Will?
Estate planning can be difficult for people, no matter what their financial status. Although Lee passed away with considerable wealth, it’s uncertain whether he had a will or trust. One of the first lessons from Stan Lee’s estate is to plan ahead. Like Prince, Aretha Franklin, and Chadwick Boseman, who also died without completing estate plans, Lee died without providing clear testamentary guidance. Prince passed away without a will. Aretha Franklin also died without a formal will. However, multiple hand-written wills were found in her home after her death. In August, Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman died at age 43 after a four-year battle with pancreatic cancer. The Marvel superhero actor also died without a will.
Lee’s wife of seventy years passed away in 2017. Under California law, as his sole surviving daughter J.C. inherited all of Lee’s estate. If Lee wanted anyone other than his daughter to inherit his fortune, he never planned for that result. Consequently, J.C. inherited all of the Lee estate.
Take Care of Estate Planning Sooner Rather than Later
During the final years of his life, there were allegations that POW! Entertainment, a media production company, originally founded by Lee, had tricked Lee into signing away his name and likeness. Lee sued POW! Entertainment in 2018 but later dropped the suit. Lee also made several negative claims about his daughter, which he later retracted. He passed away later that year. His daughter unsuccessfully attempted to revive the lawsuit in 2020 and was heavily sanctioned by the court. Before his death, there were also rumors of possible elder abuse and financial exploitation.
Part of estate planning involves being prepared for incapacity. Although it is not known if Lee lacked capacity at the time he signed his name and likeness over or filed his lawsuit against POW!, he may have been impaired. In California, by having a power of attorney (POA) for finances, you can have a designated agent ready to take over specific financial and business responsibilities if you become incapacitated. The instrument can be broad or limited to particular accounts or tasks. You can devise the POA to end at a specified time or for a specified purpose. By creating a POA before the need arises, you can help ensure that the right measures will be in place to protect your financial and business interests.
Another essential task is to designate someone to make medical decisions in your place. In California, an Advance Health Care Directive allows you to name the person you want to be your medical decision-maker. This instrument also permits you to provide specific treatment instructions to your medical providers.
Ideally, a person’s POA and Advance Health Care Directive will be prepared long before they are needed. The problem with waiting to prepare these instruments is that if an individual is suffering from an impairment or diminished capacity, they may be too confused to comprehend what they are signing. At that point, the only option may be to seek a conservatorship.
Talk to One Another
Stan Lee spent his life creating iconic superheroes that will endure for generations. Before he died, it was unclear if Lee was being taking advantage of or harmed by those he believed he could trust. Some of these misunderstandings and accusations might have been avoided through estate planning. A final lesson from Stan Lee’s estate is that by taking the time to talk with your loved ones and an estate planning attorney, you can plan for the future and ensure your interests are protected.

I’m sadder than I can say that Stan has died… even though I know, from my recent phone conversations with him, that he was more than ready to leave this Earth. I’m so grateful that, by sheer circumstance, I got to spend a half hour or so with him this past Saturday, less than 48 hours before he passed away. At that time, it was obvious that he lacked much of the old Stan Lee energy that everybody had got to know at conventions and in movie cameos, but when I asked him about future cameos, he expressed a real interest in making them, if he could find a way to do it without their being too much trouble. He asked me about Dann and all the animals on our place (Dann had, at his request, sent him a DVD we made for him a couple of years ago), and got fairly animated when talking about his battles with publisher Martin Goodman over doing Spider-Man. I opined as how maybe the one important creative decision Goodman ever made was when he commissioned Stan to create a super-hero group back in 1961. Stan seemed to get a kick out of that. […]But I wish I could look forward to seeing him and sparring around with him again. Still, I consider myself so very lucky to have known and worked with him for so many years… one of the most important myth-makers of the 20th century.
Seeing as Thomas and Lee were so close, it’s only fitting that the Marvel legend’s last words were about his successor. Thomas’ manager is the one to have revealed the last thing Lee said.
“God bless. Take care of my boy, Roy.”
It’s not clear who Lee is talking about, but it’s very likely that he’s referring to the Marvel empire.
We hope that Lee is resting peacefully, and know that that his legacy will live on forever.
Stan Lee’s Final Words To The Fans, Get Ready To Cry
I think we’re all going to need a couple more days to get over the loss of Stan Lee.

Jesus, for being less than two minutes it’s pretty difficult to get through.
For myself, a later in life DC fan, cannot deny the impact Marvel comics have made on my childhood. Some of my earlies memories were going to my local drugstore with a fist full of change to buy the latest issue of Spider-Man. Yes, I’m old enough to have bought comics at a drugstore. This was back in the day when drugstore’s weren’t just called Rite Aid or CVS, but an actual non-chain emporium of daily essentials.
Web Of Spider-Man #100 was one of the first books I ever bought and from there, a door opened to whole new form of artistic expression, that also entertained you. Let’s face it, your parents didn’t care because at least they got you reading.
I wonder exactly how many kids starting reading because of Stan Lee?
One can only hope a new generation of comic book creators can enlighten the lives of the youth the way Stan Lee did.
Again, Rest In Peace.
